Seeings as we seem to have lots of similar ideas from BSG (and other shows) what about a new ship class similar to the battlestar gallactica.
Battlestar might not be original enough :P so i was thinking Battle Carrier but your suggestions also welcomed.
Sized between a battleship and a Carrier it would be the largest ship able to use stargates.
The role of this would be the ultimate heavy weight fighting ship to have on the field, like a heavy assault battleship but with a twist, they are as slow, if not slower than a freighter.
As an example i will list the statistics for the Amarr version: Slot Layout: 8 High (8 turret 3 missile bays) 4 Med 8 Low
30,000 powergrid 650 cpu Standard T2 Resists (think recon not hac) 15,000 sheild hp 30,000 armor hp 10,000 structure hp
25,000 m3 drone bay (able to hold 5 fighters)
Apoc sized cap/recharge
Required Skills: Amarr Battleship 5 Amarr Carrier 5
Approximate Cost: 500 - 800 million to build.
With the skill and cost these won't replace battleships, they can still be killed (not much harder than your average battleship) and will likely not become the new standard in fleet warfare (can't fit seige mod).
What they would do is give people who don't necessarily want to live in low sec / 0.0 a chance to play with fighters and they'd give older players another new toy that doesn't involve hiding in safespots.

for agent running you would need to be a pretty old char to use it, and imho thats not so bad. Also was thinking maybe ditch the fighter idea and give them 10 drones instead (usable at once).
Seriously think BSG, it has huge guns, it has huge fighter capability. I want to fly BSG in eve :D (also those gun effects are so much better than what we have - maybe with next graphics touch up)
Valid point with gate camping in one, maybe gates agress on a battlecarrier they recognise the ship type and call in concord reinforcements? |

ok ok 4 turrets 1 launcher for amarr??
oh and also... for a twist maybe incorprate some Tier 3 BS ideas... like tiny lock range :D |

I see no problem with it having 8 turrets. Give it bonuses for tanking instead of damage so they will survive longer under concentrated fire and their firepower will be comparable with battleships.
I also thought about flagships then saw this concept. So ability to use one gang assist mod would suit this role.
For stats I'd like:
Slot layout and CPU/PG: same as BS Bonuses: 2 for tanking Hitpoints: twice more than BS Resists: Standard tech 1 Drones: up to 3 fighters Can use 1 gang assist mod
And carrier V I think is too much, first level would be enough.
Agreed. However i think now ditch the carrier skill req back to lvl1 only. And introduce a racial Battle Carriers skill for each race. Also maybe some other support skills to V.
What do we think about the price?
(At comment to move to other forum: it has been made obvious by the lack of dev posts there that its not the place to get their attention)
And i also think it stupid that capital ships (after all the years of training up to them) get to sit at pos or in a camped system and never have any real fun. CCP please bring out ships like these ^ or else give capital ships a role in fleet warfare on the front lines.

i personally suggest a ship class between battlecruiser and battleship. Something we all thought battlecruisers we ment to be using the smaller end "large turrets" eg dual 250's and Dual 425's etc
the POINT is its a capital that actually gets to FIGHT, unlike every other capital ship that sits at SS or pos most of its life.
Look at all the mission runners these days they all in faction BS with faction tank ect. This wouldn't change any of that just make it cheaper (yes cheaper, when you look at a faction fitted rattlesnake)
and for PVP it would be a big difference when one of these came through your gatecamp.
Maybe make them immune to all EW except scrambling/web? |
